Circle of Community - Past EVENTS - We organized, FREE April Break mini workshops with Indigenous artists, musician and chef - via zoom. Go to Neighbourhood Arts section of our website,  for more info. on each workshop and to learn how to register school aged children and youth!

Workshop A - Monday April 12

1 pm EST - Bannock Making with 

Chef Maluh

​

Professional Chef, Marlene Hale, Frog Clan, Wet'suwet'sun nation will join our collective from Victoria, BC

​

This workshop is exclusively for school aged children and youth (parents are encouraged to assist when necessary) 

​

Beaver Barrack Tenants - Free Ingredient kits will be delivered to your unit via contactless delivery on Sunday April 11th in the afternoon

​

Ottawa residents - Free ingredient kits can be picked up on Sunday evening via contactless pickup at a location in Overbrook.

​

Other families are welcome to register from other locations. The recipe will be posted soon!

Workshop B - Tuesday April 13

1 to 2:30 pm EST - Eco Craft - Bowls with artist Marg Boyle

​

Professional Artist, Marg Boyle,

Eagle Clan, Metissage (Mi'gmaw/ Abenaki) will lead this workshop where kids will make fabric collages on paper mache bowls inspired by the Circle of Life.

​

This workshop is exclusively for school aged children and youth (parents are encouraged to assist when necessary) 

​

Beaver Barrack Tenants - FREE Craft kits will be delivered to your unit via contactless delivery on Sunday April 11th in the afternoon

​

Ottawa residents - Free craft kits can be picked up starting Sunday evening via contactless pickup at a location in Overbrook.

​

Other families are welcome to register from other locations but supplies will not be available outside the above planned giveaways. 

​

Families will be encouraged to take photos of their final bowls for our end of project show in May!

Workshop C - Thursday April 15

1 to 2 pm EST - Rythmn Circle with Akawui

​

Professional Musician, Akawui, Mapuche nation will lead this workshop from Chile. Get your drums and rattles ready for this fun intro. to rythmns of the Americas!

​

This workshop is exclusively for school aged children and youth (parents are encouraged to assist when necessary) 

​

Workshop D - Friday April 16

1 to 2 pm EST - Digital Photography with artist Edgar Hernandez

​

Professional Artist, Edgar Hernandez

will lead this workshop where kids will learn to improve their digital photos (smartphone or digital camera hints) and then be challenged to take photos of their communities for an installation Edgar has planned for May. 

​

This workshop is exclusively for school aged children and youth (parents are encouraged to assist when necessary) 

​

Registrants will be asked to send some photos of their communities ( Beaver Barracks, Ottawa, and around the World) to Edgar via email by April 31st, 2021 for a photo/video installation in May as part of our Circle of Community!

​
